Technique for roasting an artisan marshmallow (on a bonfire!)

I spent a lovely weekend at Baptiste lake this Canada Day Long weekend, and one of my goals was to find the perfect techniquw for roasting an artisan marshmallow over a bonfire.  One would think that this would be an easy task, but alas there were many marshmallows casualties lost to the amber flames.
